Hi bros,
My father goes to Dubai next week, and my birthday is looming in the horizon so I plan to ask for an electronic device. I plan to ask for a notebook pc. But can^'t make up my mind on that matter. I never used a Mac but those powerbooks make me drool. On the other hand I used Toshiba in the past, and I was very happy with its performance. Any kind of computer recommendation would be appreciated.

Not just that though, I could go another way and have another thing. But it would be something electronical, they are realy cheap in Dubai. Anyway, I'm waiting to hear from you.

Thanks in advance,
Cheers,
Can

Whoa, calm down a little man. I nearly don't know anything about computers. I read about the thing you talk about don't know what to make with it. In this case, as you can see, I need a recommendation like "I definetly recommend blabla."

Thanks though, I definetly won't be buying a mac :)

My experience with laptops is the opposite. My Dell always had some strange hardware issues, now the function key doesn't work. My officemate's Dell had a motherboard failure for which a Dell tech had to come out. My current IBM Thinkpad has been great, no problems for the 11 months I've had it. Several of my coworkers with Thinkpads have had no problems at all.

YMMV, apparently.

I'm on my 4th IBM Thinkpad, and they have all been outstanding. I wouldn't buy an IBM desktop, but the Thinkpad is the best. After IBM I'd got with HP over Dell, also. Hewlett Packard makes the best desktops, they just don't make the cheapest desktops.
