Anyone recommend some albums for me to go buy to get into Steve Morses playing? I heard a few songs at school and I was amazed!

Cheers

All Steve Morse's albums are great. Introduction is a good one to check out. ;)
Southern Steel all the way. Some of his best playing and writting on that album. My absolute fav of all morsey's work, including his stuff with the dregs.
I like the Dregs stuff, personally, and "The Introduction". That's a killer album. Check out 'Unsung Heroes', 'Dregs of The Earth', 'What If', and 'Industry Standard'. Major Impacts 1 and 2 are both also excellent albums.
night of the living dregs has some great stuff on it, industry standard and major impacts are also good, i actually don't think he's released a bad album (much like an other guitarist named steve i know of;-))
All of um! I saw him with Deep Purple last summer and I was just left speechless. Amazing...sorry, but Mr. Blackmore is outclassed here!
How indicative is "Structural Damage" of Steve's composition and playing abilities? I bought it for an extortionate price in London and was entirely underwhelmed. Repeated listenings have done zilch for me. I have heard a track of Steve playing on the Deep Purple tour and was more impressed admittedly.
Haven't heard structural damage. Get a used copy of "the Introduction" if you want to hear him play, get "Industry Standard" by the Dregs if you want to hear him write. there's also a nice classical duet with Steve Howe on IS. Steve is a top line player, one of the very best playing today.

I don' t see the big deal with steve morse... iv seen deep purple in concert and he's not that good.
I second Southern Steel and also. High Tension Wires is another one you could start with.

I think you must mean "his playing style wasn't for me" or "his music just doesn't move me or isn't my taste" or something. Because to say he is not that good can only mean that you haven't heard him play much, I would think. I was at an Ernie Ball show one time where after one of Morse's solos, Petrucci put his own guitar down on the floor in front of Steve to pay homage, LOL. Also, Vinnie Moore said that it was quite intimidating to be playing on stage with him at that same show. Like those guys or not, they are far from "bad" players who respect Steve and his playing immensely. Steve Morse is a monster player who is revered the world over from players from all genres. I only mention this because I think too often people equivicate their dislike of somebody's music with a lack of talent. Just because it doesn't mean something to you personally, doesn't mean the person isn't good at what they do. :)
