I posted this in the Ibanez.com forum as well

OK, with all the bad press out there, I was a little skeptical, but let me tell you, this guitar sings ! It not only sounds great, but looks great !!!!!

It is very comfortable to play, and no flaws ( a few small bumps felt with finger near Vai's signature near soundhole , but can't see anything ) that I have spotted yet. This is one of the easiest guitars to play and it sounds so balanced. It is not a loud guitar unless you press it, but it still sounds clear when I strum hard. It is the best sounding Barre Chord I have ever made. ( I am not great, so take that with a grain of salt ) but it was easier and the chords sounded cleaner.

This bracing system seems to allow a great sound out of the top, which is solid Engelmann spruce , ( back and sides are solid Mahogany ) the neck is perfect for me and is so easy to play !

The Aura Blend system is really cool as well. I have a really cheap amp and it still sounds good coming out of that. ( on most settings anyway ) .

The Inlay is really cool looking right up the neck. Mine has a more Orangy tinge to it. I noticed some on line seem a little different, but I am not sure if that is just the light.

I am waiting for the Studio series to hit the stores , which will be any day now I am told . If Ibanez can do this with solid woods, I hope the studio series follows that pattern. I will buy one .

But I will be keeping my EP9 for many years , this is a keeper for me.

I have had a Taylor 410ce for a short time, Taylor GS7 ( 716 I think they are called now ) Larivee D03 , Takamine EG532 Spalted , ( very cool looking ) . I also have an Ibanez Hybrid PF which still remiains , but my point is, I owned very nice guitars and this EP9 is right up there with the taylors. As a matter of fact, sound wise, maybe it reminds me of the 426ce ( African wood I believe ) maybe a little darker than that , can't remember )

I am told this was Steve Vai's specs and not just his signature. Great job to both steve Vai and Ibanez ( at least for the one I have ) !!!! I am in my upper 40s so I did not buy this because of Steve Vai's name , this is truley an incredible guitar.

You will not find this in stores anymore, but Sam Ash still carries them , you just have to order it. Took about two weeks. You don't have to buy it, they asked me for 20.00 down and totally refundable if you don't take it when it comes in. . Fortunately, this guitar was what I have been looking for.

It has the Ivroid II saddle and Nut, and Gold Grover tuners .

I hope that helps someone looking at this as an option.

I am going to try an load PICs on here. I have never done that before , so I have to read "how to" on the forum. But if you go to the Ibanez website, the EP9 is shown there.

But the one thing I have noticed when looking in the Sound hole, there is a bracing system that does not seem to be on the older ones ( at least from pics I have viewed that allowed you to see a partial view of the interior ) . It is Suspended in the middle so to speak. I am not sure if that is a reenforcement or advanced method, or they made this one different , I will try and show that when I take the Pics.

Anyway, It's ashame this line had quality issues when it was introduced , and they did not address it immediately, because it really is nice guitar, and is it overpriced ? I guess it depends how you look at it. This is a mjor upgrade from the EP7 , all upgraded materials, so don't compare if you are considering it. Just the solid woods top, back and sides make a major difference alone.

This basically is a custom guitar in my eyes.

In this price range, I tried to find a guitar with the comfort to sit in my lap , comfort and easy playing neck , the sound the I liked , the look unlike any other Acoustic / Electric I have ever seen , the electronics ( Fishman aura system is incredible and programmable , which I didnt know until I got this home and read the manual , ) I get know QUAKING at all, and it sounds very natural , and I have a very inexpensive amp , $100.00 brand new ) I really need to upgrade my amp to bring this sound out , but I was amazed how nice the sound is amplified, because I have amplified the other guitars I mentioned on the other post and they did not sound as good as this through my cheap amp.

Again, my needs and what I am looking for in a guitar may be different than others.

People have said to me "if you are going to spend a grand for a guitar, get a Martin , etc".

I said, you show me another brand that has these features and looks as described above, and I will consider it. Names mean nothing to me if it is not what I want. I guess that is why there are so many brands , makes and models out there, something for everyone.
