Steve Vai Tribute H-String Saddle

Hey guys,

I came across this when reading Kurac's Charvel threads. Is there a story that goes with this silver saddle?

Does anyone know? I've done some google searching and come up with nada. I'd love to know the significance of the name, and if Vai came up with the name and why the name.

Hey, that's just how I called it. :D I have no idea if there's something special about it. He might just thought it is cool looking, don't know. But well, he had it on Evo some years ago - you can see on the K'm-Pee-Du-Wee Poland Video.

/e/ Here's a pic.

Aaaah, so the name is something you came up with. Sneaky sneaky!
I doubt it, the green meanie trem would have worn out LONG before K'm Pee Du Wee was recorded methinks.

Not necessarily. There's not much to wear out on them. Knife edges. haha And nylon bushings.
That could possibly be the same trem.
Not a chance.

EVO's got an original Ibanez EDGE trem on there. Even has the "licensed by..." embossing on it.
More than that. One is black the other Black Chrome.
I saw this too once I bought the K'm-Pee-Du-Wee video, then I saw that pic of the Meanie.

It is definitely not the same tremolo and I think it just looks cool. He doesnt always have it, it seems so idk.
There's nothing significant about it.

When Steve is touring, sometimes parts need to be replaced - and that was the case with the saddle on EVO - which was replaced during the European leg of the 2005 Real Illusions tour. EVO has long since had this silver saddle replaced with a black one.

Seems like that B string saddle must get the most wear
Sometimes you can overtorque the saddle bolt and split the saddle in half. It happened once on my old 570 when I was starting out. It was on my low E I think...

Thanks for chiming in Mikey!

Funny how the same saddle on the green meanie was also replaced. Unless that was more Kurac photoshop deception. *evil eyes at kurac* :)

Looks cool nonetheless on those guitars, and Kurac's Charvel in the other thread.

Wow, I thought it was just me

I had a similar thing when building a swirl with gold hardware, and I couldn't be bothered to wait for all the parts.

I have been thinking about selling this and the saddle was bothering me, now I think I will charge more!!!!! ;)
This is off topic, but is that guitar scalloped to the 12th? Kinda looks like it
^ Yey MicahC, it's scalloped up to the 13th fret.

Yeah Mikey, thanks for the info. I just love the look with the chrome saddle, that's why I put it on my Chiquita Charvel.

:D That's the real deal. But thanks for your trust in my photoshop skills. No evil eyes here needed. :) :)
