Hi
I'm the proud new owner of a UV777BK and am loving it. But I have found one small problem.
I need to remove the volume and tone controls to remove what's left of the pick guard plastic film, but the knobs won't come off. Secondly, they are both rather stiff to rotate, meaning you actually have to turn them between finger and thumb, rather than roll them back or fwd using outside edge of little finger.

Any ideas for removing them without damaging them? And also is there a way of loosening them so they turn more freely?

Thanks!

Hello Jamie :)
Welcome to the Jemsite :)

Concerning the knobs, the safest way to pull out a plastic knob is this little tool from StewMac (not very expensive either):
http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tools/S...ps/Knob_Puller.html?actn=100101&xst=3&xsr=766
If it is still too expensive or you do not want to wait for shipping, you can always use that idea and build something similar yourself with scrap pieces of metal that you bend with pliers (and then wrap with some sort of silicone tape to not scratch anything).

As for the volume/tone pots, I highly recomment DeoxIT, it cleans and lubricates and is safe on plastics:

However it is a bit pricey, but that same little spray can will last you 10-20 years :)

Hope it helps! :D
