Hi guys.. I'm thinking of buying this used Sabre.. Is it a good guitar? Is it made in Japan or the US? He says Japan, but it looks like to me it says US on the neck plate, but that doesn't mean for sure it was made in the US in my experience with other guitars.. It's 275 bucks used..

It still has the old-style neck joint so I dunno if I'd want it or not. Plus, I'm not much of a fan of single coils (I really can't stand more than one on a guitar UNLESS they are hum-cancelling Dimarzios). More importantly, if the guitar is 16 years old then who knows what condition the trem is probably in. The frets could also be worn to hell and back by now. With the amount of mods you may have to put into this guitar, I just don't know if it's worth $275. I really just don't know....

The frets look a little unkempt and the tremolo has massive wear on it. Otherwise looks fine to me. I would ask for better pictures, closeups of the trem and first five frets. Id say 225 to be safe, but less would be asking too little for a good guitar. I like those stock ibanez dimarzios, and those are hum cancelling by the way they have a dummy coil wired in with them

route it out for another humbucker. I have a 89' s540 that is HSH, natural tung oil finish, sanded and oiled neck. Thing plays like butter. Smoother then many 'a Jem. Air Norton and Tone zone, I forget the single coil, a duncan i think.

Thanks guys.. I was wondering about it.. Is it made of basswood ? I mean the body or is it mahogany? I don't know enough about the older Ibanez's to tell..

Making the neck pickup a humbucker is merely a matter of hooking up the other coil. The wires just need to be extended and its a humbucker :>

Are you suggesting that picture you posted there is of the actual guitar you'll lookin at? Because i'm not so sure of that. I've seen the picture on some website awhile ago, I think it was on a small vendor site. I saved the picture on my computer and it says date modified on it was Sunday, June 20, 2004 so thats gotta mean sumthin.
And just ignore this if u were just posting a different picture of the guitar u found.
It could have just been that they were trying to sell it for a long time...
