I needed to retube my Mesa Road King so I happened across "Eurotubes" (http://www.eurotubes.com). Bob was extremely helpful and wrote me a loooong email about different tube configurations depending on style and sound desired.
I went with the following suggestion from Bob:
4x JJ 6L6GC (Matched Quad)
2x JJ E34L (Matched Pair)
3x JJ High Gain ECC83S
2x JJ Standard ECC83S
1x JJ Balanced ECC83S (for phase invertor)
2x JJ GZ34 (to replace the 2x 5U4)
Every email I sent received a response from Bob within a couple of hours max. The communication was phenomenal. My Road King had Mesa tubes in it and when I put these tubes in there I could not believe the difference I got out of my amp. There was a lot more clarity and "chunk". With the gain turned all the way up, the sound still retained all of that. The "flub" typical with Mesa Rectifier amps is gone.
From dealing with Bob at Eurotubes, I learned a lot about tubes in general and I am getting a sweet sound out of the Road King that you can not get from the factory.
One of the better experiences I've had buying gear on the net.
