Hopefully arriving next week will be the neck and body for my first truly custom guitar, what I decided to call the 540PIII or since it's associated with Alex Skolnick, the Ibanez Swirlnick.

Nate Perle said it's getting the final buffing this weekend and then will get it shipped out to me. Here's pics of the JEM neck I had made (I was originally going to just make it a JEM but then thought lost of players have a custom JEM but who has a custom swirled 540PII? Probably nobody so I asked Nate to switch to the 540PII body about halfway through the process (tho after the JEM body was swirled). I think it came out magnificent. Not a perfect swirl but still fantastic. Looks like a total of 4 months turnaround from order to finish as well.

So, pics of the front and back and one of the upper part of the neck, This will be getting white DiMarzio's (Air Norton/Tone Zone) and white volume knob and switch tip.

Pics are from before the body was cleared.

Nate is going to start doing ebony fretboards soon so my next project with him will be a 540PII S-H mahogany body in desert yellow, reverse headstock, 24 fret, yellow sharktooth inlays and ebony board (still a chance I may go for pink for the total 80's deal). I need a classic looking 540PII to go along with my Swirlnick.

More pics when she's all assembled.

Gorgeous!! Love the colours, very cool swirl which will look even better when it's been cleared. The inlays are perfect as well. Good call JS!

Has an Edge Pro bridge, DiMarzio Air Norton in the neck and Tone Zone in the bridge.

My first custom guitar so really happy how it came out and it sounds fantastic. Nate Perle was a joy to work with. Good communication, sent lots of work in progress pics, didn't mind re-swirling if I wasn't feeling the swirl. He's the only one I'll deal with for custom bodies and necks.
