And I finally plucked up the courage to drop two Gibson classic PAFS in this.
Glad I did!
I've just road tested and it knocks you out.

CRYSTAL CLEAR in all 3 modes NO NOISE, NO FEEDBACK, AND AND SIMPLY GREAT TONE.

57 CLASSIC PLUS IN THE BRIDGE.
57 CLASSIC IN THE NECK.

Tried clean with little reverb, it could be Peter Green. Although no wonder he ended up in an asylum, these PUPS are so freakin LOUD.

I put BurstbuckerT's into my Les Paul.

They are unshielded so the neck one will feedback like a mother****er if i turn up the gain due to where i rest my hand on the bridge (have to work on shielding them!) but they kick ass. Wouldn't say either pickup is very loud but they have their fair share of mids and highs.

I'm so happy with them though I do not know where to begin. They do sound just like an old PAF and it sounds so good clean or with a little bit of overdrive.

i think its because they have a very high output (ie are very sensitive).
They put the amp into distortion mode quicker than any other PUP.
Les Paul SHOULD be Ok for feedback if shielded properly, but hollowbody guitars are notorious. I think my Ibanez has a big centre block and the shielding is good, hence the nice clean sound and abscence of feed back.
It almost sounds distorted at high volume with no effects. If you click on a tubescreamer its like Richie Blackmore/Brian Moore/Brian May/Jeff Beckesq.

Gibson classic PAFs aren't very high output. They sound fine, no argument there, but the high output bit is off. Resistance is likely in the 7.5 to 8.5 range.
