hi guys i just got my UV7BK (serial: 000079 me thinks this is the 79made am i right??) ok well i got it and the action is unbelivable high so i took it to guitar shop (i cant set up guitars :( ) so i go to pick it up today and they say its a fake body :| they say under backstop is too small for the guitars trem to be lowerd so its as low as the action goes and it still way high! so i was just wondering if you 7bk (i dunno if the age of the guitar matters) would you post the hight+width of the backstop please (inch/centermeters)

sorry for the ramble

thanks

Obviously you could do better than whoever is pretending to be a tech working on your guitar.

The guitar needs a neck shim, and probably a fairly large one. If they don't know this [and couldn't figure it out with guitar in hand] go take the guitar back and take it to somebody that WOULD know this. It's very simple and doesn't require a specialist.

I wasn;'t aware Guitar Center had spread to England. ;)

Seriously, Rich's site will walk you through everything you need, but a couple screwdrivers, some common sense, a bit of patience, and yer' typical businesscard should do the trick - easy mod that should solve the problem here. :)

Unless, of course, there's an outside chance that it really IS a poorly done replacement body, but I'd imagine that'd have made itself manifest before somewhere more visible, so like I said, that's a longshot. Still though, pics?
