Vai's Jem on Dimarzio homepage

I don't know if this has been discussed yet, but Vai's jem(thats supposably a mirror)on Dimarzio's homepage looks black. Why does it look black in every picture? I'm starting to think he actually has a black jem like the one hes holding. Mirror or black, i think it looks better black. Seems less gimicy.

It's mirror. Maybe Steve was facing a dark surface when the photo was taken.

Plus anyone who ones one (i.e. me ) can tell you it's a bitch taking a picture of that guitar. Most of the 1st pics I took of my mirror top came out black and I use a 4 mega pixel camera too. I think it was reflecting my black leather couches.

if the picture was taken head on of the guitar wouldnt the flash of the camera reflect

Yes, you have to take the picture at an angle so the flash doesn't reflect off of it.

Yeah, looks black to me, but that's just the reflection of whatever was on the walls infront of him.

Though it does look quite nice. Sort of reminds me of a UV777PBK

It's proffessional photography in steve's case, so there'd be all sorts of diffused flash and such. So like the flash is bounced of the ceiling or screens and the camera is straight on.
