Is there anything that can be done about this? I'd like to use the volume swell trick but my volume knob is too tight for that. And no I'm not weak it's just to tight to turn fast. I have an RG3120 if that matters.....

Yeah you have to replace the pot. I mean you could try to delicately get some WD-40 down the shaft of the pot, but you risk getting it into the contacts. You could also spray the pot down with electronics cleaner. Get the shaft and the mechanics while you're at it. Sometimes the lube they use gums up. So the cleaner re-flows it and cleans some of it out of there. I've had old pots get "too loose" after cleaner, and I know that's why.

Could it be that the actual knob is rubbing against the body, preventing it from turning smoothly? If that is the case, loosen off the little screw in the side, reposition so that it clears the body and retighten the set screw.

Nope...it's not rubbing against the body.......I can turn it but I just can't do it during playing fast....
