...and I asked her to return it! :surprise:
Do I feel like an ungrateful douche...mmmm, yep! My wife knows I have been eyeballing the JEM 77P for awhile now, so she went to guitar center yesterday and purchased one for me! (Yes, she is really awesome!) I was excited...big time! However, the first thing that I noticed was that it had the wrong case. It had a cheesy Ibanez gig bag and not the semi hard-shell case thing. I was ready to go down and force the proper case out of them. Why can't these big chain stores keep their cases strait. They can never find the correct case for the guitar it seems!
However, the neck on the guitar was a deal killer for me. It just had a strange feel to it. I expected that it would be different from my RG550 Genesis from what I had read online but it was very tiring to play. I tried to convince myself that I would adapt to it, but it just became clear as the minutes ticked by that this was not the JEM for me. :crying:
The fit and finish was perfect, neck alignment was perfect, frets were perfect, the Edge II thingy was fine and the Gravity Storms were the bomb, but dang, that neck!!
Questions: are all the Premium JEM necks that same profile? Does the MIJ JEM have the more standard Wizard neck of the RG?
Not the outcome my wife or myself would have hoped for, but I did learn something from the experience: the 77P neck is not for me and Gravity Storms are some cool a$$ pups!!
