Word...Hey Guys check out this lead tone..

It's an xt

I want you to tell me if it s a good tone or a bad tone..
It's a remix of Bed5

http://65.254.79.230/bed5.mp3

What I did was doubled the tracs ,took out the highs on 2 of them and added bass, add different delays on the bass tracs and left the originals alone.
you can really hear the legato part in the middle, the bass and mids drag behind the highs, resulting in a big fat tone

Let me know if this Sounds Pro...

Sounds alright to me, are you using the neck pickup? Kinda sounds like it to me ears (ya know, bassy, kinda midrangey without a lot of treble)

Also, was that just a long solo or just diddling? lots of hi-notes, I was looking forward to some chugga chugga riffer madness :D
No I was using the bridge pickup....

I should of said lead tone ,sorry...

Sometimes I forget there is a very rare breed of players out there...lol

But thanks for your time...

JoeyDahlia
sounds great, the tone is a bit EVH, what kind of gear/signal path did you use?
Just an xt..Thats it..

Don't ever mic a cab for leads...ever...lol

Get an xt.....

JoeyDahlia
That rocked as always Joey, big improvement- sounds very pro indeed man.

I always mic my cabs. Can't beat it but it's a pain in the ass.
File just downloaded...at last!

Tone sounds pretty good :)
Thanks Red 5,

I Had the Atomic for a few months,I tried 3 or 4 mics and none could match the direct recording, when you mic a cab you have to worry about the speaker, mic, where you place the mic, room ,even the cables ,oh my god my head is hurting just thinking about it..and it still wont be as clear as direct.

But direct is the way to go...for leads anyway...I am starting to learn rhythm guitar and recording it..

JoeyDahlia

Can you hear the difference between the 2 types of recording?

Direct or Thru Air?
Direct recording with a preamp such as the xt is the easy way of getting decent tones with very little work.....

BUT, if you know what you are doing and have access to good mics and pre's....you cant touch a warm expressive tube amp tone miced up. Those preamps dont react to your playing like a tube amp does.....

Just food for thought :)

Not on my laptop :p

But if you mic a tube amp properly, it defeinitely is the best. You can capture the sound of being in the room with it. I usually use a mix of mics, one close to it and one a few feet away and that sounds great. If you mic it poorly or miss the speaker by an inch, that's another story. But it's a pain in the ass as well.

You pulled it off nicely and much easier and quicker and you don't have to worry about noise either.
You aint kidding!

I just could not capture a nice pure tone...I also tried every amp on the market...The XT will always rule...

Thanks God for the XT

Lemmy, I think I am getting better recording ,I really like my XT.

Do you think a tube pre amp before my XT or even after my XT will work..

So I am still going direct ...

What ya think??

A Line 6 POD XT.
A multi-effects unit, Im sure you have seen/heard of them.
I thought the tone was very good, and I also enjoyed the playing too. Great notes!

Thanks Big Job,

I am learning as I go along..

I did not know I should copy 2 tracs and paste them ..

So I tried it and it sounds killer...

It's a direct recording gizmo... It's great for recording guitar ,It does away with bad mic'n skills ,bad speakers...Things like that..

You just have to dial in a cool tone ,and hit record...Does away with 1000's of dollars worth of gear.....

JoeyDahlia

Dude ,don't ever record lead guitar with mic....
