Hey gang. I know it's probably a bit of a long shot, but I was wondering if any Axe-FX XL owners out here might be feeling the urge to get their hands on some good ol fashioned tube tone again?
If so, I'm looking to trade my Mesa Mark IV Rackmount Head + $600 cash for one. If you're looking to unload your MFC101 MKIII at the same time with the XL, I can throw in some more cash to make that happen.
About my Mark IV.
It has the original footswitch, reverb tank, manual, some extra tubes (2 6L6GC coke bottle tubes and 3 preamp tubes), and the cardboard settings guide.
Currently the amp is loaded with 2 6L6GC coke bottle styled tubes, and 2 EL34s (the amp was uniquely designed to be able to take that setup, and yields a really wonderful tone), all 4 of which are MESA branded.
It's in amazing physical condition, with the exception of the EQ Light on the front of the amp, which doesn't always come on by itself, but if you tap it, it comes back easily.
The only "issue" with the amp I do not even believe to be an issue, but a while back when I was playing it, the tone randomly changed for no apparent reason. I lost some volume and some distortion, but when I put the amp on Stand By and switched it back on, it was fine for a while, but eventually did it again.
Funny thing is, the amp hadn't received any playing time since 2014, up until a few months ago when I decided to use it for band practice just for fun. The entire time, it worked absolutely flawlessly.
In the interest of following up with said issue anyway, last week I spoke to a nice guy, Donald, located in Kissimmee. He's on the list of authorized repair stations in Florida on the Mesa website (2nd down on the list; http://mesaboogie.com/support/locations.html?q=32129&t=repair). He was kind enough to spend about 15 minutes on the phone with me, to which I broke down in great detail the symptoms the amp had before, as well as the fact that it didn't seem to be acting up anymore. He had said that given all the information I'd provided him with, that he's about 80% certain it's a tube going bad. He then asked me when the last time I changed the tubes was, and laughed when I told him I'd purchased the amp used in 2006 and have not changed the tubes since. Once he finished his chuckle he said "Haha, yeah man, tubes should be changed about every 2-3 years. You're well past due. I'm pretty sure that's probably what the issue is".
If you'd like to see some pictures, I've uploaded them to this photobucket library: http://s55.photobucket.com/user/AnimosityIII/library/Mark IV
Either way, thanks to whoever took the time to read my long winded stuff lol
