Let's start a conversation about this setup. Satriani, Chad Smith, Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony.. Gonna be something!!

While I thougt they were arrogant comments too and it made me think a little less of Hagar, I do hope they are the best band since Zeppelin. Think about it, how cool would it be if that comes true.

I hope they are great. I don't like to hope for people's failure. That, in my opinion, is entirely the worst attitude in the world. Uh...no offense Cid.

Even a failure of an album would be little more than a bruise to the ego. They are all already massively successful, even though I still can't understand Sammy Hagar's solo success.

When Zepplin came out the whole Zepplin package was new and exciting. I really doubt this guys will do anything earth shattering. Just another rock album. Really aside from the Beatles and Zepplin, I can't name any other band that would reach those levels and can't imagine there ever will be.

The Zep crack was probably aimed at EVH, so I don't give it too much credence. If you are as old as me (and granted, most of you aren't ;) ) there was a lot of LZ/VH talk when VH first hit. And I mean A LOT. Page and EVH were compared every day, no one else mattered or seemingly ever existed in the great "Page or Van Halen" daebate (I always voted for Steve Howe, shows how much I knew). It kind of smells to me like an inside joke; a shot at Eddie's ego. But I like all the ChickenFoot guys, so I'm hoping they put out some rocking tunes, but we'll see. I'm not exactly waiting on it or anything.

Any eta on the disk?

He later blamed it on being drunk.

I'm a huge Satriani fan but I have to agree with you waylay00

there is a big difference between having a sense of humor and just making EVERYTHING one big joke.

I thought Satch promised us the band wasn't going to be named Chickenfoot? That is seriously a terrible name for a band.... blech!

this is what Sammy had to say about that "It was just supposed to be a bull**** name that we'd used for a while," former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony told Classic Rock. "And then the rumours spread about the band, everybody used that name so we thought, 'fuuck it, let's call it Chickenfoot - it all comes down to the music anyway."

I'm not saying I think they will be the next Zeppelin, I'm just saying that if, and only if, they are, it would be awesome. No one can say they don't want to hear an awesome rock band. Especially when we are starved for good rock. I mean come on, people are starting to call Jack White a genius*. I don't know how that makes you feel but it makes me feel very disappointed.

*I've been informed recently that I should have more tact when speaking my mind, so I'm apologizing in advance if you dislike my Jack White comment. It refers only to his music and is not intended to insult to you or him. It is only to show that I don't see him as a musical genius and that I think that he and his contemporaries are not giving us the best rock music.

wow, you guys are so negative.

come on, we have satriani, who is one of the greatest musicians/guitarists/composers of our time who can create beautiful things. we have chad smith, a rock solid funk/rock drummer from RHCP, and michael anthony and sammy hagar. i mean, granted i don't think those two have as much cred or respect as the other two guys, but i think they will make something pretty interesting.

the fact satch is in there, makes me have hope, be different if it was slash or something.

The way I see it

Satriani - The fan boys will either love it because it's Satch, or if he doesnt play enough notes cry that he was holding back. He will probably be the biggest driving force for the album sales.

Chad Smith - IF Chili Peppers fans actually know the drummers name and buy the album, I'd bet they will be disapointed that it doesn't sound like a Chili Peppers album.

As for Hagar and Anthony not having the cred or respect, I'd bet they sold more albums than Satch and the Chili Peppers combined, probably the biggest draw to people not living in the Ibanez bubble.

You guys can say what you want about bad attitude and negativity, but I'm betting for an all around disappointing album. Too flashy for the casual rock fan, not shreddy enough for the Satch kittens.

He's the Chili Peppers drummer ? I thought he was Will Ferral or Will's brother when I first saw him. :D

As part of Van Halen, of course. You'll have a lot of people who won't buy it 'cause Eddie isn't in the band, while you'll have others who do buy it because they feel the Van Hagar era was "better" than the original or you'll have those who feel Michael was done wrong.

I'd like to think the album will sound cool but who knows. I'm betting it'll be hit or miss. I do really like Chad Smith. I'm a big RHCP fan. Van Halen and Satch are no-brainers. I'm just not sure how it will sound all together.
And Cid has a point about the Ibanez "bubble", though I'd probably extend the idea to being a musician in general. Sometimes I wish I could shut off the musician part and listen to music as a non-musician... but that's another thread entirely. :D
