Hi everyone.

Last saturday, my flat was completely destroyed by a fire and my 1990 Ibanez USA Custom (Necromancers Castle) was turned to ashes.

The insurance company is asking for it's value, so if any of you have an idea, please reply quickly.

umm....go by the list price from the custom shop. since it was a custom shop model it's "irreplaceable". we all know better, but your baby axes are irreplaceable. get max value.

Where can i find the price list? I know the list price from 1990 when I bought it (NOK 17.000 / USD 3400 with todays currency), but knowing the insurance company they'll see the new price and purchase year and offer me half a bag of chips for the guitar. No way I'll let them rip me off on this guitar...

I'd have to guess a minty graphic would be around $1500-1800 or so these days, but that's just a guess. Someone who spends a lot of time on auction sites might have a better idea. Maybe Rich will pop in and give his opinion.

Shocking news today. I was alowed into the flat with people from the insurance company to see if it was anything left. As we were going through the bedroom I was desperate to see if I could find the remains of my beloved guitar. I knew I had it in the flightcase under the bed, so as we went in I couldn't see **** because of the darkness. We looked around the frame of the bed where it was nothing but ashes and then I saw a big black square case on the floor. The flight case was sticky from parts of it being melted but it was whole. I got it out and put it on the floor and prepared for the worst... The locks opened without any trouble and as i opened it I saw the guitar was spotless. No visible damage at all!
They'll bring it to a guitar tech for a check-up, but hopefully my baby has defied the odds of a devastating fire and survived unharmed.

A touching story.

Sorry to hear you had that fire anyway man. I'd be absolutely crushed if that happened to me. Mostly cos of the computer, it's got stuff on it I'll never be able to retrieve again. I do have a portable hard drive but if I were out of the house that'd probably perish in the fire...

quite ironic a necromancer guitar survives a fire, 'does what it says on the tin' i guess :)

yeah lets see those pics (well unless camera melted in fire).

Oh and cant remember who posted about portable hard drive pc losing data....back up your hard drive to dvd-r discs!!! they cost pennies to do and doesnt take long :)

though if you have a fire youd loose them too lol but yeah in case of corrupted HD's that do happen avoid losing precious files photos etc , get them backed up :)
