Apparently Ron Thorn's attention to detail is not of this world - he truly lives for making these guitars. He used (or still does) custom one-off inlay work for some companies like Fender. Most of these are too over-the-top cosmetically (I like workhorse guitars), but supposedly you really get what you pay for.

 

Thorn's are not to my taste at all, but I can sure appreciate the craftsmanship, it's crazy. Ed Yoon from Suhr guitars mentioned these, so I went and checked 'em out. Very detailed indeed, really well made, but totally not my kinda thing.
