What? Santa Claus doesn't exist???
I think that people can believe what they want to believe. If you want to believe in God/some other religious entity, so be it. I don't appreciate the people on here trying to push it on others though. That's not what this forum is for.
We can discuss this topic without pushing beliefs on one another.
My son was conceived the same year my Grandfather passed away. we gave my son my Grandfathers name as his middle name. I believe that I see glimmers of my Grandfather in my son.
So I guess I believe that some of our consciousness can pass on after the grave to others, maybe in our own families, maybe not. That's what I like to believe.
Funny you say that.
My Grandmother passed away and the same time 1 year later our son was born.
There was a bit of a coincidence there that I always thought about.
Aside from that, I've been having the same questions in my head for a while, and sadly I'm no closer to answering that question than when I was ignorant on the matter.
I like a lot of the beliefs out there, but the thing that bugs me the most, is the over zealous people telling you how you should worship, etc. Having no supreme being in the equation answers a LOT of questions.
Why is there war? Why wouldn't there be?
Why is there famine? Why not?
How could this terrible thing happen to someone so young?
Easy, if there is really no one watching over us or no one to say unequivocally that things we do are right or wrong. I'm not pointing the finger at any one religious group, every culture has them. The zealot who
knows his/ her way is the only way.
No one knows, it's all based upon a feeling you get.
I would love to know how things will end up, and ultimately, I guess I'll find out.
My Grandfather told me this, and sometimes the thought just wakes me up out of a deep sleep, with impending doom on my mind, "None of us are getting out of this alive."
Kind of like riding that roller coaster, the one you were having 2nd thoughts about, but now you're on it. Buy the ticket, take the ride. You're going up, up, up, eventually you're going down, can't stop it.
*Shrug*
Enjoy life, share your time with those you love, share your self and your knowledge, and hope you leave things better than you found them. Religion aside, we'll all find out one way or another.
