Why are Ibanez trems so expensive?

Why are they so expensive? The Lo-Pro edge is around $300. You can get Gotoh's Floyd for $99 and it's a really great and stable bridge! For example Suhr uses it. Aren't the Ibanez trems made by Gotoh so what explains the price difference?

Gotoh's Floyds are stamped steel baseplates, Ibanez are cast. All parts of the trem are proprietary to Ibanez so as snagg stated, economy of scale also plays a role, but it is a costlier trem to produce, and Ibanez has to pay what a Gotoh distributor would have to pay, and then mark it up to a distributor. And bottom line they have an extremely good reputation so command a premium because people will pay it. If nobody bought them they'd have to reduce the price. But by having it all proprietary if you need a lock block they list for $8, fine tuners are $9, a saddle is $27. You can buy a full set of complete Floyd saddles for less.

I've rejected lots of trems for scratches or other blems in the finish and used to always get a hard time, and my standard answer was 70% of the guitars they sell cost more than this part, if you want me to sell them they can't have blems.
