total guitar considers head as a new breed of "speed freak"!! total guitar rock but what is meant by this (totalguitar=uk guitar magazine)

Most guitarist from the grunge time were less than good guitarists well except Alice in Chains maybe.

I disagree, some were not good, but music just changed, kinda refreshing! They just weren't songs that had solos in most of them. A lot of crunch and power behind the songs.

My 2 favorite guitarists from that time are Jerry Cantrell & DeLeo from Stone Temple Pilots.

Nothing wrong with not doing solos etc. like in the 80's but the whole grunge movement seem to support that it wasn't important if you could play your instrument good or at all. But then again the punk movement in 1970's lived on that :).

lol .... I'd say I probably got you beat at being the worst.

It's taken me 15 years (self taught) to get to the point I'm at now and I'm guessing I'm only at an intermediate level ... lmao ... I'm a super slow learner :)

It's kind of like asking whats the worst color, or whats the worst flavor? BUT.... if I had to pick one I'd say 'The Edge" or just "Edge" or whatever the Hell he calls himself.

i think the edge writes some great music. his "solos" are well done, he just needs to step out a bit more and add more to them. i was a big U2 fan, then i used to really dislike him only because my friends ripped on him all the time, but recently i went back and listened to some older U2 albums i had and now i really enjoy his stuff like i used to.

Sorry I just don't get the whole U2 thing. To me they are the most overated band of all time, BUT thats just my opinion and my personal taste.

I don't them that much today either. There is to much MTV and politics around them today.

I mean has "Edge" ever heard of not using effects pedals to create a sound on the guitar? I think not. Got to agree U2 are massively overrated to me, and the Edge really seems to lack...playing ability.

LOL Black Flagg. I think you have a winner there. Are those guys still playing? I remember listening to them in high school (long time ago) and thinking man this sucks!

After seeing the clips from Metallica when opened up for Rolling Stones. Kirk seems to seriously trying to become a bad guitarist.

I Agree with Rotti,

The Edge from U2......if not the worst guitarist, certainly one of the mose overrated.

I don't get the U2 thing either, think they only made it in the first place because they were an Irish band singing about the troubles in Northern Ireland.....even though they came from the south!!!!!

But back to the guitarist thing...it's amazing what you can do with a few dings, twangs and a chorus and delay pedal....it's got him through the last 20 years, so maybe it's me who's got it wrong :)
