You can simply look at the ibanez support wiring page for your
request. Otherwise, stock S series have 330pF in the volume
and 0.022uF in the tone.
My guitar is an 89 model, unfortunately they don't have it there.

So a stock S should have 2 capacitors? Is there also a resistor? After I got my pups changed in a store, I can only see 1 small capacitor now. Hmmm....

Oh, yes it's true.
Yes, 2 caps. One for the tone and one for the volume. The one in the
volume is used for high pass when you turn down the pot. This prevent
the high frequency cut and the darken sound.
Pots are the resistors and they do the filter circuit with the caps.

Maybe you have the cap only in the tone control. Someone don't use a cap
in the volume because they think it change the tone of the pickups.

Here's mine 1991 S540LTD SOL, guitar is in dead mint condition! Frets have no wear, neck is PERFECT, tha action is very, very low (and no fret buzz), and body has no scratches at all!

Of course, it is Japan made. Only Japan made Ibanez guitars work for me. It's my fourth MIJ Ibanez, previously had 1990 RG570 purple neon, 1990 RG550 black and I still have 1990 JEM77FP (this one's a keeper!) along with Blade RH4 standard (hand made in Japan). When I look at that S I realize how little it takes for an instrument to be stunningly beautiful, no finish at all, no fancy binding, just pure wood.

Or even better - if you have no idea how to adjust neck relief, don't do it by yourself. Find someone who knows how to set it up right. You could easily damage your neck.

I can understand being nervous if it's something you've never done before but it's very easy.

Go to your favorite hardware store and get an 18" metal straight edge so you can see the relief in the neck. You can also use the stings by fretting at the first and last frets but it's a little tough if you don't have 4 arms. A capo would help.

Anyway, stewmac has a sting action gauge tool that looks like a metal credit card. They make an imperial and metric one so get the metric. You now have all the tools you need to set up your axe. I like this measuring tool better than a small ruler because it sits over the frets and it's easy to hold in place.

Try it. Very simple, you really can't hurt anything making the 1/4 turn or so you will need for the truss rod and you will never have to rely on someone else to set up your guitars.

Or you can do it the good ole fashioned EVH way. Adjust it so all the strings barely buzz, then back it off a bit ;)

Seriously, this is a skill guitarists SHOULD know, and his s320 would be fairly forgiving. If he's able to do a string change on that LotrsII guitar and have it play ok, he is more then capable of doing a simple truss rod adjustment. Just takes some practice! :)

Now that 've finished my project guitar I thought I'd step in and post my 2 S Series guitars.

First up is my Ibanez 450S. I've had her since new, this month we've been together for 20 years. I don't know the exact date but I know it was May 91 as it was when I got my first job and sold my Commodore Amiga to get her.

The only mods she's had done is I changed the knobs and the bridge pick up is a Dimarzio Evolution, I was gonna get a PAF pro put in but the day I went to get it done the Evolution had just been released so I got that instead.

Next is an Ibanez 540LTD body from around the same era I picked up on eBay. You can see the build thread here.

The neck I've been told is off an 88 era Sabre ? The original neck which came with the body was no good.

The swirl is courtesy of ET Guitars here in Australia who also sorted me out for technical advice when I finished putting her together wrong - thanks Ernie !

She's got a Dimarzio PAF PRO in her and the tremelo is the original unit after a good clean. She was in a shocking state, check out the build thread to see how bad she was.

Cheers, Buck.

what bridge is on that red on, Im some what new to this whole Ibanez only locking bridge deals. I can spot floyds and the like but Ibanez has always thrown me a curve ball.
